1. What Is HDPE Textured Geomembrane?

HDPE textured geomembrane is a type of synthetic liner used in various civil engineering and environmental applications. It is manufactured from high-density polyethylene resins through a process that involves extrusion, texturing, and calendaring. The texturing process imparts a rough surface to one or both sides of the geomembrane, enhancing its frictional characteristics and providing better stability when placed on subgrades with varying slopes.

With their impressive combination of properties, textured surface HDPE geomembrane liners provide reliable and effective solutions for preventing seepage in various industries and environmental projects.

HDPE Textured geomembrane is used for anti-seepage, waterproofing engineering, etc. Rough surface geomembrane has a membrane body, and the surface of the membrane body is rough, which is beneficial for fixation. The membrane body can be rough on one side, and it is best for both the front and back surfaces to be rough.

BPM textured Geomembrane is produced by the spray texture technology. lt is designed with one or two side textured surface. Except for the excellent properties of smooth geomembrane,it also has better interface friction coefficient and UV resistance.

HDPE textured geomembrane is a versatile synthetic liner widely utilized in civil engineering and environmental applications. This geomembrane is fabricated from high-density polyethylene resins using extrusion, texturing, and calendaring processes. The texturing procedure introduces a rough surface to one or both sides of the geomembrane, enhancing its frictional properties and providing improved stability when installed on subgrades with varying slopes.

HDPE textured geomembrane is widely used for anti-seepage and waterproofing projects. The rough surface of the geomembrane facilitates better anchorage, ensuring it stays in place. While it is possible to have a rough surface on only one side of the membrane, it is generally recommended for both sides to be textured for optimal performance.

6. How To Install Textured Geomembrane

  • Before laying HDPE texturedgeomembrane, the corresponding qualified acceptance certificate document of the civil engineering project should be provided.
  • Before cutting HDPE texturedfilm, its relevant dimensions should be accurately measured, and then cut according to the actual size. Generally, it is not advisable to cut according to the size shown in the diagram. Each piece should be numbered and recorded in detail on a dedicated table.
  • When laying HDPE texturedgeomembrane, efforts should be made to minimize welding seams and save raw materials as much as possible while ensuring quality. It is also easy to ensure quality.
  • The overlap width between membranes is generally not less than 10cm, and the weld seam is usually arranged parallel to the maximum slope, that is, along the slope direction.
  • Usually, in corners and deformed areas, the length of the joint should be minimized as much as possible. Unless otherwise specified, within a range of 1.5 meters from the top slope or stress concentration area on slopes with a slope greater than 1:6, welding seams should be avoided as much as possible. During the laying of HDPEtextured geomembrane, artificial wrinkles should be avoided. When the temperature is low, it should be tightened and laid flat as much as possible. After the completion of HDPE textured geomembrane laying, walking and moving tools on the membrane surface should be minimized as much as possible. Any objects that can cause harm to the HDPE textured membrane should not be placed or carried on the membrane to avoid accidental damage to the membrane.

7. How To Weld Textured Geomembrane

  • The welding process of the hot wedge welding machine is divided into: adjusting the pressure, setting the temperature, setting the speed, checking the overlap of the weld seam, installing the film, entering the machine, starting the motor, and pressurizing the welding.
  • There should be no oil stains or dust at the joints, and the overlapping surface of HDPE textured geomembrane should not be filled with mud, sand or other debris. When there are debris, they must be cleaned before welding.
  • At the beginning of each day’s welding, a 0.9mm x 0.3mm specimen must be tested on site, with an overlap width of no less than 10cm. Peeling and shearing tests must be carried out on site using a tensile machine. After the specimen is qualified, it can be welded at the adjusted speed, pressure, and temperature at that time. During the welding process of the hot wedge welding machine, it is necessary to pay attention to the operation of the welding machine at all times, and adjust the speed and temperature according to the actual situation on site.
  • The weld seam should be neat, beautiful, and free from slipping or jumping.
  • When the length of the HDPE textured geomembrane is not enough, it needs to be longitudinally spliced. The transverse weld seam should be welded first, and then the longitudinal weld seam should be welded. The transverse weld seam should be T-shaped with a distance of more than 50cm and should not cross.
  • Adjacent HDPE texturedgeomembrane welds should be staggered and overlapped as much as possible. The nodes formed between membrane blocks should be T-shaped, and cross shaped joints should be minimized as much as possible. Squeeze welding machines should be used to strengthen the intersection of longitudinal molds and weld seams.
  • When welding the film, it is not allowed to press out dead folds. When laying HDPE texturedgeomembrane, the expansion and contraction deformation caused by temperature changes should be reserved according to the local temperature change amplitude and the performance requirements of HDPE textured
  • When the temperature control of the handheld welding machine indicates that the welding machine temperature is below 200 ℃, it should be dusted off with a clean cloth or cotton yarn before welding. If necessary, it should be re polished and avoid wiping with hands.
  • When there is condensation, moisture, mud, and other influences at the joint, welding should be carried out after treatment.
  • Welding cannot be carried out during rainy periods or when there is moisture, dew, or heavy sand at the joints, except when protective measures are taken.
  • When the temperature is below 5 ℃, construction should not be carried out according to the specifications. If construction is necessary, the welding machine should be preheated before welding.
  • During the welding process of the extrusion welding machine, the slider of the gun head should be checked regularly. If the wear is severe, the slider should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid damaging the film surface.
  • When welding HDPE texturedgeomembrane, a generator with good voltage stability should be used for power supply. In special circumstances, when using local electricity, a voltage regulator must be used.
