Case Study

  • Project: Sewage Treatment Plant
  • Product: 500gsm PP Staple Fiber Nonwoven Needle Punched Geotextile
  • Location: USA

Issue

Since the customer’s project is used for industrial sewage treatment, due to the strong acidity and alkalinity of industrial sewage, and the content of various chemical elements, in order to avoid the pollution of soil and groundwater caused by sewage leakage, anti-seepage measures should be taken at the same time. It is also necessary to protect the anti-seepage measures, so there are high requirements for the acid and alkali resistance of the geotextile used as the buffer layer and protective layer.

BPM nonwoven needle punched geotextile is made by the method of polypropylene staple fiber forming and consolidation, and its fibers are arranged into a three-dimensional structure. It is a new type of building material in geotechnical engineering and civil engineering applications. In addition to good tensile, In addition to the characteristics of mechanical strength such as puncture resistance, it also has good vertical and horizontal drainage performance and good elongation performance, as well as good chemical functions such as high biological resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and aging resistance. Polypropylene staple fiber geotextile also has a wide pore size range, tortuous pore distribution, good permeability and filtration performance.

Solution

In August 2021, an American customer contacted us through LinkedIn. He hoped that he saw the dynamics of LinkedIn that we often released, and felt that our geotextiles were of good quality and could meet their engineering design requirements, so he asked us Initiate an Inquiry to Purchase Geotextiles. After communicating with the client, we learned about the project and learned that the client’s project is a sewage treatment plant with a total area of about 12,000 square meters. The customer said that 500g/m2 polypropylene staple fiber nonwoven needle punched geotextile should be placed at the bottom of the sewage treatment tank as a buffer layer and at the same time reinforce the bottom soil. After some negotiations, we made a quotation to the customer and provided the corresponding test report. After seeing it, the customer felt that the quality was very good, so he decided to ask for some samples to see the products produced. So we mailed samples of geotextiles corresponding to the weight to the customer, and also mailed some samples of other products to the customer. It is expected that customers can use it in other projects in the future.

Advantage

1) The tensile strength is high. Under the same gram weight, the longitudinal and transverse tensile forces are higher than other needle-punched non-woven fabrics.

2) Good elongation, the nonwoven needle punched geotextile has good elongation under a certain stress, so that the geotextile can adapt to the uneven base.

3) Good drainage performance and vertical permeability. Due to the large thickness of non-woven geotextiles and needle-punched reinforcement, it has good plane drainage performance and vertical permeability.

4) Good anti-ultraviolet performance, non-woven PET geotextile has good anti-high anti-ultraviolet radiation performance, which ensures a long service life.

5) Good corrosion resistance: Non-woven geotextiles are resistant to different chemical substances such as acid and alkali, gasoline, diesel, etc. in the soil.

6) Good anti-friction performance, the friction coefficient of the geotextile is higher than that of another conventional geotextile, and it is not easy to fluff and damage.

7) Good creep resistance. Non-woven geotextile has good creep resistance and long-lasting function.

The role of PP nonwoven needle punched geotextile

In addition, nonwoven needle punched geotextile provides protection against many roadbed hazards such as frost. This is the foundation soil under repeated dynamic loads. The soil pore water pressure increases to the extent that the strength of the soil cannot be suppressed, and the soft soil is squeezed into the lower coarse-grained soil layer. Seepage caused by hydraulic slopes is called coarse-grained soil. When the soil is heavily polluted, it can be boiled in a coarse-grained layer.

The role of nonwoven needle punched geotextile in the ecological environment: How does geotextiles maintain the ecological environment? Geotextiles are suitable for greening on flat, slopes and high slopes, allowing moisture to flow between the bag and the soil inside the bag, which is the moisture needed for vegetation loss, and will never cause fruit or soil erosion due to rain or watering. water. Also, geotextiles are ideal plant seeding blocks. It is permeable and impermeable to soil. Grass can grow from the outside, in the name. , Regarding the friendly vegetation, the root system of the vegetation can grow between the bags, and the root system connects each non-woven geotextile into a whole, building a stable and permanent ecological slope.

The second role of geotextiles in the ecological environment: Greening the ecological environment has always been the voice of the society. Geotextiles have drawn public attention in this project. At the same time, the ecological slope protection engineering system uses raw materials to build flexible slopes and retaining walls. , to complete the planar greening of the reservoir and slope bank, expressing the establishment of an ecological project that is economical, energy-saving, lively and breathable in the southern area. The project does not require hard materials with high energy consumption and high pollution such as steel, lime and stone.

The third role of geotextiles on the ecological environment: as a multi-functional product, geotextiles can reduce or even avoid secondary pollution. Non-woven geotextiles have good water permeability and air permeability. It can be buried in fill waste. Improve the acceptance conditions of fill garbage, enhance the tensile strength and deformation resistance of fill, and improve the stability of engineering structures. Non-woven geotextiles are under correct use conditions. The anti-seepage layer adopts needle-punched non-woven geotextile and HDPE geomembrane as engineering materials. The anti-seepage layer is designed to slow the infiltration of polluted wastewater and the migration of pollutants, while guiding the drainage layer to discharge the wastewater.
